Veterinary science colleges?

I would like to start schooling to become a veterinarian, but I don't know where to start. I had good grades in high school and have been attending junior college. My worry is that any college I chose ie. humboldt or UCDavis would only give me the school knowledge but not the experience needed to get a job. Does anyone know of a good pre-vet or vet college that would prepare me for getting out into the field?
