In Sims 3, I Can't switch between people in my household I need help?

I currently added the Sims 3 Generations expansion pack, So recently whenever i play i cannot switch between people in my household. For example my current household; a family of 4 only keeps the picture of the father up with all of his information such as friends,skills,jobs, etc. I can switch to someone but i can only tell it's them by their lifetime wish because their pictures and stats will no longer appear. I can switch to a different household but a problem occurs as well because the previous family stays on the boxes on the left so it's hard for me to tell who i could be playing with. I don't want to start my game over so please help me with this glitch I already tried moving them out and putting them back in and i removed the little mods i had off of the game and this still keeps happening so i'm a bit desperate here!
