Im about to be laid off, im worried I may be denied unemployment?

Ive worked for this company for 7 months. Another company bought the primary share and has taken over. A lot of jobs are about to be cut. If my job is eliminated is there something these weasels can do to get out of paying my unemployment when it happens?
