I was 16mm a week and a half ago and NOW I'm ovulating....What the Heck?!!! Is this possible?

Does this mean my follicle is GINORMOUS and we won't be able to conceive? Last weekend I started spotting (about 3 days after my follicle appointment).....Not sure if it was just a fluke or if the follicle ruptured. I just find it weird that now I;m about to ovulate - (according to my bbt & cervical mucous this am). Does anyone know what the heck is going on, if this is normal and if we still have a chance?!
