Why Is There A Random Thick Black Hair?

I have light brown hair, the hair is thin but there's lots of it! Today I found a random extremely coarse hair, that was a translucent black color, but reddish brown when I held it up to the light. The hair follicle was black when I pulled it out, a lil bit peeved. Why is it randomly chillin on my head?
